Brown-Forman launches first wine under Sonoma-Cutrer Winemaker’s Release Series

DBR Staff Writer Published 04 June 2013

Brown-Forman, producer and marketer of Sonoma-Cutrer wines, has launched a new wine, Late Harvest Chardonnay, as the first limited edition bottling under the Sonoma-Cutrer Winemaker’s Release Series.

Produced from ripened grapes of Sonoma-Cutrer Vineyards in California, Late Harvest Chardonnay contains more amounts of sugar, making it sweeter, rich and flavorful wine.

The wines produced by Sonoma-Cutrer are aged in French oak barrels.

Sonoma-Cutrer winemaking director Mick Schroeter said the Late Harvest Chardonnay is very special in that they are only able to produce it when conditions allow.

"Its sweetness comes from extra time on the vine that concentrates the sugars and flavors which creates a dessert-style wine with rich, succulent flavors and robust sweetness," Schroeter added.

Sonoma-Cutrer brand manager Tracy Thornsberry said through the Winemaker's Release Series they wanted to emphasize the meticulous practices and techniques of Sonoma-Cutrer and they think Late Harvest Chardonnay does this.

"We're known for Chardonnays, so for the first release in this series we thought a perfect fit would be a Chardonnay, but one that's very unique to our other offerings," Thornsberry added.

Late Harvest Chardonnay is available for purchase at select US markets with suggested retail price of $29.99 per 375ml bottle.
