Equity Wine Group purchases Creekside Estate Winery

DBR Staff Writer Published 03 September 2012

Canada-based Equity Wine Group has purchased Creekside Estate Winery from founder and owner Laura McCain.

Niagara valley-based Creekside produces red wines including premium Vintners Quality Alliance (VQA) wines and Broken Press Syrah.

McCain said that 14 years after establishing the winery, she intends to focus on other business ventures.

Equity Wine Group president Andrew Howard said that the opportunity enabled the company to add the winery and its team to Equity's business portfolio.

"Creekside Estate Winery has a clear vision to make some of Ontario's very finest wines and to do it in a way that is truly innovative," he added.

Creekside marketing and sales director Matt Loney told Wines in Niagara that the current team will remain at the winery.

Equity Wine Group owns Sideroad Twenty Cellars that sells various offerings of premium VQA and import brands direct to consumer. The group also distributes its proprietary brands Red Tractor Wines and Sideroad Twenty.
