Half glass of wine a day increases chances of getting breast cancer: Study
UK doctors have found that half a glass of wine per day increases the chance of developing breast cancer by 10%.
The study said consumers, sticking to the government guidelines which advises women not to consume more than 14 units of alcohol a week or two units in a day to avoid the risk of cancer, also are at substantially higher risk, reports dailymail.co.uk.
In reference to an ongoing study carried out by Oxford University involving more than a million women, shows that 10g of alcohol consumed per day increased a woman's risk of getting breast cancer by 10%.
The study also stated that a large glass of wine that is usally served at a pub or restaurant contains 2.3 units of alcohol, and a small glass 1.7 units.
It is estimated that women who are getting breast cancer have increased in the last 30 years and one in eight women will develop the disease at some point in their lifetime.
The increase in the breast cancer cases are partly attributed to obesity, smoking and also drinking.
