Matariki Wines to sell winery, vineyards

DBR Staff Writer Published 10 September 2012

New Zealand-based Matariki Wines plans to sell its business to pay back creditors with debts of around $10.3m.

Owned by O'Connor Family Holdings of New Zealand, the company was recently put under receivership by receivers PricewaterhouseCoopers.

PricewaterhouseCoopers partner John Fisk told stuff.co.nz that it would probably look to sell the business either as a whole or in two parts - as separate vineyard and winery businesses - as soon as possible.

"We will probably be advertising for expressions of interest in the near future," Fisk added.

"The vineyard is at a fairly quiet stage at the moment so we want to get it on the market to enable a buyer to get in there ready for next season."

The winery has a portfolio of wines including Matariki 2007 Quintology, 2009 Pinot Noir, 2006 Blanc de Blanc, 2007 Reserve Sauvignon Blanc and Matariki 2009 Late Harvest Riesling.
