Scott Harvey unveils two new wine blends under Jana Winery label

DBR Staff Writer Published 18 January 2013

Scott Harvey Wines, a California-based winery that produces handcrafted wines from Napa Valley and Amador County, has launched a new red wine and a white wine under the Jana Winery label.

The white wine is labeled as Primero Beso, while the red wine is titled Ultimo Beso.

Made in a semi-dry style, Primero Beso is the 2011 California White Wine Blend that possesses flavors of spicy orange and honeydew melon fruit. It pairs well with light-style pastas, fish or chicken.

Scott Harvey Wines owner and winemaker Scott Harvey said he always liked to produce the Alsatian style wine where Symphony brings fruit flavor and Chardonnay brings full bodied finish to wine.

"With only the Symphony and Chardonnay we have what I call a donut wine with the center still needing to be developed. The Riesling is the perfect bridging component to fill out the wine and make it complete," he added.

Made in a full-bodied style, Ultimo Beso is the 2009 California Red Wine Blend made from Zinfandel and Barbera. It carries flavors of spicy cloves and blackberry fruit, and pairs well with any meat or pasta dish.

Harvey said, "The Zinfandel brings a fruit forward beginning to the wine while the Barbera makes up the full bodied finish. Here too, in the blending of Zinfandel and Barbera, the center still needed to be developed. The addition of the Port varieties provides the perfect bridging component to fill out the wine and make it complete."

Primero Beso retails for $18, while Ultimo Beso for $20. The winery is also launching two blends under a French label - 2011 Premier Baiser (white blend) and 2009 Dernier Baiser (red blend).
