Spanish winery Protos signs distribution deal with PLB
Bodegas Protos, a Spain-based winery that produces premium Ribero del Duero, has signed a distribution deal with UK-based distributor PLB to distribute its products to independent merchants and the on-trade units in the UK.
Established in 1927, the Bodegas Protos owns 180ha of vineyards in the Ribero del Duero region and has access to additional 800ha of vineyards near Valladolid and Penafiel, from where it sources grapes for its wines.
For the UK markets, PLB will distribute the entire portfolio of Protos wines including Protos Joven Roble and a Tempranillo aged in American oak.
PLB Iberia buyer Jaime Delage said the company is well-known for importing Spanish wines.
"We felt we had space for a strong brand from Ribera del Duero, and are confident that Protos fills this: they make a wide portfolio of wines with the heritage and prestige that we know our customers are looking for," Delage added.
