Terlato Wines International re-launches Mike Ditka Wines

DBR Staff Writer Published 29 August 2012

Illinois-based Terlato Wines International has re-launched eight new labels under the Mike Ditka Wines brand.

The new Mike Ditka Wines includes The Player (Merlot and Pinot Grigio), The Coach (Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc), The Hall of Famer (Pinot Noir and Chardonnay), The Icon (Cabernet Sauvignon) and The Champion (Red Wine Blend).

Chicago football player Mike Ditka had earlier teamed up with California-based Mendocino Wine Company in 2006 for his line-up of drinks. But, after sales fell down in 2011, he teamed up with Terlato Wines to develop new wines and improve distribution, reported ChicagoBusiness.com.

Ditka told the website that he had a good time in the wine business in the last few years and with Terlato family, he saw an opportunity to take Mike Ditka Wines to a new level.

Terlato Wines International president and CEO Bill Terlato told the website that sales of Mike Ditka Wines should get a boost from the new partnership.

"The idea is to have something that is quality and has limited availability," Terlato added.

The new Mike Ditka Wines will be available at Walgreen stores in Illinois and other beverage stores in Indiana and Wisconsin at a price raging from $14.99 for The Player to $49.99 for The Icon and The Champion blends.
